Miasma Bellydancing & Sydney’s Hellfire

Retro MagazineTribal Style belly dance is a structured improvisational form of dance that draws from cultures around the world, including Middle Eastern, Egyptian, Indian, Spanish Flamenco, and African dance.   Tribal style is usually performed with two or more dancers, as it is a style of dance in which dancers interact with one another.  This style of belly dance originated in the US and has spread around the world in recent years, becoming more and more popular. The performances have a focused, fresh, energetic feel, largely due to the improvisational component and the interaction between dancers.

Miasma is a Tribal Belly Dance duo based in Northern Tasmania.  Their performances have often been described as ‘mesmerising’! Shows can have an earthy, gypsy feel with upbeat and folky flair, or a more intense, dramatic style.  Shows, costumes and music can be tailored to suit the occasion, from a more ‘traditional’ feel, to   modern, edgy gothic/club style, using props such as swords and fire to create dramatic, exciting performances.

If you want to check them out in person, Miasma will be performing at Sydney’s Hellfire on the 15th of September.
